Stuff Your Eyes

Stuff Your Eyes (2024) explores the intricate dance between humanity and technology. This piece navigates the profound intimacy and significance of human connection, while juxtaposing the isolating impact of advancing technology on our society. As characters spiral into their individual realms of altered reality, a poignant yearning for genuine human connection emerges, magnifying the significance of touch in a world where its absence amplifies its importance. Stuff Your Eyes paints a vivid portrait of how our relentless quest for knowledge can blur the lines between reality and perception, inviting you to question the very essence of our digital existence.

This work was a commission by Gibney Dance as a part of the DoublePLUS Program - Director: Nigel Campbell. Dual Rivet was curated by Kyle Abraham.

SUBSCRIPT

SUBSCRIPT (2023) is an evening length dance performance based off the company’s short film, IN CAPSULE. This new work follows four characters through a non-linear narrative that explores the concepts of reality vs perception. The piece questions how much of our lives are controlled for us and how much control we truly have. This is an hour long experience with dynamic movement, complex partnering and sensitive interpersonal moments. Do we ever fully understand the structures we are subscribing to?

This work is a live, evening length expansion of the short film “IN CAPSULE” released by Dual Rivet in March 2022.

From The Outside

From the Outside (2022) is an evening length performance examining our emotional, physical and mental states of struggle in a time when, for many, stability has been challenging to find. As beneficiaries of regular access to physical contact, Dual Rivet aims to facilitate healing from what will be a year of touch starvation with a study on how individual stability depends on having a support system that cannot be solely virtual. They hope to reflect with audiences on life in quarantine and to identify and honor our available support systems. This piece was originally created on multiple floors in which the dancers and audience travel in 2022.

This work is a live, evening length expansion of the short film “Rabbithole” released by Dual Rivet in February 2021.
